The Brown County Hornets (Mt. Sterling, IL) basketball nipped the host West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars (Winchester, IL), 76-71 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Hornets (13-6) will now prepare for their test against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia (Concord, IL). The Trojans go into the Western Illinois Valley test with a 7-6 record.

The Cougars now own a 15-6 record. They play next when they host Pleasant Plains for a Sangamo test on Tuesday, January 17. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] will encounter a Cardinals squad coming off a 48-41 non-league win over Auburn (Auburn, IL). The Cardinals record now stands at 13-3.
