Southland Academy Raiders (Americus, GA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Glenwood Gators (Phenix City, AL), 55-54 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Southland Academy upgrades its record to 12-3 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to Terrell Academy (Dawson, GA) to play the Eagles in a GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 11-5. Terrell Academy won 60-59 in their recent league bout against Valwood (Valdosta, GA)

Next up, the Gators play the Springwood Wildcats (Lanett, AL) in a AISA AAA Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Glenwood will attempt to upgrade on its 13-7 season record. The Wildcats come into the bout with a 9-8 record after their 83-54 league win over Southern Prep Academy (Camp Hill, AL).
