The Woodlands Highlanders (The Woodlands, TX) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host New Caney Eagles (New Caney, TX), 44-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, The Woodlands upgrades its record to 17-6 on the campaign. The Highlanders host Conroe (Conroe, TX) to play the Tigers in a 6A Region II District 13 bout on Wednesday, January 18. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 14-7. Conroe won 100-23 in their recent league bout against Willis (Willis, TX)

Next up, the Eagles play the Oak Ridge War Eagles (Conroe, TX) in a 6A Region II District 13 bout, on Wednesday, January 18. New Caney will attempt to upgrade on its 9-17 season record. The War Eagles come into the bout with a 5-17 record after their 68-56 league loss to The Woodlands (The Woodlands, TX).
