The Jefferson County Patriots basketball team scored 53 points and limited the visiting Sevier County Smoky Bears to 51 in the Patriots league triumph on Tuesday.

The Patriots now have a 13-7 record. They play next when they host Morristown-Hamblen East for a 4A District 2 game on Friday, January 17. Jefferson County will confront a Hurricanes team coming off a 72-52 non-league loss to Greeneville (Greeneville, TN). The Hurricanes record now stands at 4-14.

With the loss, Sevier County falls to 12-5 on the campaign. The Smoky bears travel to Morristown-Hamblen West (Morristown, TN) to confront the Trojans in a 4A District 2 game on Thursday, January 16. The Trojans go into the game with a record of 4-9. Morristown-Hamblen West lost 68-51 in their recent non-league game against Science Hill (Johnson City, TN)
