The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the New Bern Bears (New Bern, NC) and the visiting West Craven Eagles (Vanceboro, NC), observed New Bern's basketball team knock off West Craven by a score of 63-52.

The Bears (7-6) will now prepare for their challenge against D.H. Conley (Greenville, NC). The Vikings come into the 3A/4A Big Carolina challenge with a 3-10 record. In their last challenge, D.H. Conley was knocked off by Jacksonville (Jacksonville, NC), 58-57, in a league bout.

With the loss, West Craven falls to 3-7 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to North Pitt (Bethel, NC) to play the Panthers in a 2A Eastern Plains bout on Friday, January 17. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 3-11. North Pitt lost 89-64 in their recent league bout against Washington (Washington, NC)
