In Tuesday's league test, the Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) basketball squad trounced the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), by a score of 67-23.
Next, the Pioneers encounter the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) in a Mountain Empire test, on Friday, January 17. Fort Chiswell will attempt to improve on its 11-0 season record. The Bears come into the test with a 6-2 record after their 41-31 non-league win over Rural Retreat (Rural Retreat, VA).
The Spartans (1-9) will now prepare for their test against Grayson County (Independence, VA). The Blue Devils come into the Mountain Empire test with a 5-3 record. In their last test, Grayson County was routed by Galax (Galax, VA), 62-24, in a league test.
