The Thoreau Hawks basketball squad (Thoreau, NM), was outscored 43-32 in Tuesday's league battle with the host Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM)

With the victory, Newcomb advances its record to 9-3 on the year. The Skyhawks travel to Oak Grove Classical Academy (Albuquerque, NM) to meet the Owls in a non-league battle on Thursday, January 16. The Owls enter the battle with a record of 2-7. Oak Grove Classical Academy won 26-17 in their recent non-league battle against Coronado (Gallina, NM)

The Hawks now own a 7-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Navajo Prep for a 3A District 1 battle on Thursday, January 16. Thoreau will meet a Eagles squad coming off a 57-29 league win over Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM). The Eagles record now stands at 10-5.
