Washburn Castle Guards (Washburn, WI) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Hurley Northstars (Hurley, WI), 47-39 in a league bout.

With the win, Washburn upgrades its record to 9-2 on the season. The Castle Guards travel to Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI) to play the Eagles in a Northern Lights bout on Friday, January 19. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 2-11.

Next up, the Northstars play the Butternut Midgets (Butternut, WI) in a Northern Lights bout, on Friday, January 19. Hurley will attempt to upgrade on its 6-5 season record. The Midgets go into the bout with a 0-12 record after their 57-14 league loss to Drummond (Drummond, WI).
