In Wednesday's non-league contest, the visiting Bruton Panthers basketball team scored a big 67-34 triumph over the Poquoson Islanders.
The Panthers (8-2) will now prepare for their contest against Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA). The Rams go into the non-league contest with a 6-3 record. In their last battle, Lafayette walloped Tabb (Yorktown, VA), 50-43, in a non-league battle.
The Islanders now own a 0-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host New Kent for a non-league battle on Friday, January 17. Poquoson will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 55-48 non-league win over Warhill (Williamsburg, VA). The Trojans record now stands at 7-1.
