In Tuesday's non-league outing, the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) basketball squad edged the host South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), by a margin of 43-40.

The Patriots (10-1) will now prepare for their outing against Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC). The Huskies go into the non-league bout with a 5-5 record. In their last bout, Ashe County was edged by Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC), 40-27, in a non-league bout.

Next up, the Spartans play the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 18. South Caldwell will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 40-27 non-league win over Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC).
