West Virginia High School Basketball - Shady Spring can't hold off Independence

January 16, 2025: Coal City, WV 25823

Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV) supporters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting Shady Spring Tigers (Shady Spring, WV), 46-45 in a league match.

With the victory, Independence advances its record to 4-5 on the year. The Patriots travel to Liberty (Glen Daniel, WV) to face the Raiders in a non-league match on Tuesday, January 21. The Raiders enter the match with a record of 3-6. Liberty won 50-36 in their recent non-league match against Man (Man, WV)

The Tigers now own a 0-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Midland Trail for a non-league match on Thursday, January 16. Shady Spring will face a Patriots squad coming off a 68-37 league loss to Summers County (Hinton, WV). The Patriots record now stands at 4-3.
