In Thursday's league contest, the host Luverne Cardinals ice hockey team scored a close 8-1 victory over the Redwood Valley Cardinals.

The Cardinals (11-1) will now prepare for their contest against Waseca (Waseca, MN). The Bluejays go into the non-league contest with a 11-1 record. In their last contest, Waseca was routed by Lourdes (Rochester, MN), 3-2, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cardinals play the Worthington Trojans (Worthington, MN) in a Southwest contest, on Monday, January 20. Redwood Valley will attempt to better on its 1-9 season record. The Trojans go into the contest with a 4-10 record after their 9-0 non-league loss to New Ulm (New Ulm, MN).
