Loop Longhorns (Loop, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Wellman-Union Wildcats (Wellman, TX), 1-0 in a league bout.

With the win, Loop upgrades its record to 5-10 on the season. The Longhorns host Klondike (Lamesa, TX) to clash with the Cougars in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Friday, January 20. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 3-8. Klondike won 62-17 in their recent league bout against Dawson (Welch, TX)

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the Grady Wildcats (Lenorah, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 bout, on Friday, January 20. Wellman-Union will attempt to upgrade on its 1-8 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 10-5 record after their 49-30 league win over Sands (Ackerly, TX).
