Winthrop Vikings (Winthrop, MA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Swampscott Big Blue (Swampscott, MA), 60-57 in a league bout.

With the victory, Winthrop upgrades its record to 5-7 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Masconomet Regional (Boxford, MA) to play the Chieftains in a non-league bout on Friday, February 3. The Chieftains come into the bout with a record of 4-7.

Next up, the Big Blue play the Saugus Sachems (Saugus, MA) in a Northeastern - Small bout, on Friday, January 20. Swampscott will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Sachems come into the bout with a 8-3 record after their 87-42 league win over Danvers (Danvers, MA).
