Eastland Mavericks (Eastland, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Early Longhorns (Early, TX), 49-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Eastland upgrades its record to 12-12 on the season. The Mavericks travel to Peaster (Peaster, TX) to play the Greyhounds in a 3A Region I District 8 bout on Friday, January 20. The Greyhounds go into the bout with a record of 21-5. Peaster won 80-44 in their recent league bout against Comanche (Comanche, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns play the Dublin Lions (Dublin, TX) in a 3A Region I District 8 bout, on Friday, January 20. Early will attempt to upgrade on its 4-15 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 10-15 record after their 71-27 league loss to Brock (Brock, TX).
