The Gilbert Yellowjackets basketball team scored 40 points and held the visiting Shepaug Valley Spartans to 15 in the Yellowjackets league triumph on Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets now sport a 6-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Torrington for a non-league contest on Thursday, January 19. Gilbert will meet a Raiders team coming off a 46-33 non-league win over Ansonia (Ansonia, CT). The Raiders record now stands at 7-3.

The Spartans (4-7) will now prepare for their contest against Housatonic-Wamogo (Falls Village, CT). The Mountaineers enter the non-league contest with a 2-7 record. In their last contest, Housatonic-Wamogo was routed by Thomaston (Thomaston, CT), 67-26, in a non-league contest.
