Leakey Eagles (Leakey, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Utopia Buffaloes (Utopia, TX), 49-28 in a league bout.

With the win, Leakey upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Eagles travel to Nueces Canyon (Barksdale, TX) to play the Panthers in a 1A Region IV District 31 bout on Friday, January 20. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 14-12. Nueces Canyon won 76-14 in their recent league bout against Knippa (Knippa, TX)

Next up, the Buffaloes play the Medina Bobcats (Medina, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 31 bout, on Friday, January 20. Utopia will attempt to upgrade on its 0-10 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 5-13 record after their 47-15 league loss to D'Hanis (D'Hanis, TX).
