Newman Greenies (New Orleans, LA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Phoenix Spartans (Braithwaite, LA), 49-20 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newman upgrades its record to 13-3 on the campaign. The Greenies host Academy of Our Lady (Marrero, LA) to play the Penguins in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 19. The Penguins come into the bout with a record of 0-5.

Next up, the Spartans play the St. Mary's Academy Cougars (New Orleans, LA) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 18. Phoenix will attempt to upgrade on its 4-7 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 6-10 record after their 52-11 non-league win over Cox (Harvey, LA).
