Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Cherokee Braves (Cherokee, NC) and the host Highlands Highlanders (Highlands, NC), saw Cherokee's basketball squad overcome Highlands by a tally of 62-54.

With the victory, Cherokee improves its record to 8-6 on the campaign. The Braves travel to Murphy (Murphy, NC) to confront the Bulldogs in a 1A Smoky Mountain challenge on Tuesday, January 23. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 9-5. Murphy won 93-53 in their recent league challenge against Nantahala (Topton, NC)

Next up, the Highlanders confront the Andrews Wildcats (Andrews, NC) in a 1A Smoky Mountain challenge, on Monday, January 22. Highlands will attempt to improve on its 2-13 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 13-2 record after their 75-31 non-league win over Blue Ridge Early College (Cashiers, NC).
