Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Deer Lakes Lancers (Russellton, PA) and the host Shady Side Academy Bulldogs (Pittsburgh, PA), saw Deer Lakes's basketball squad knock off Shady Side Academy by a count of 62-47.

With the victory, Deer Lakes upgrades its record to 11-2 on the campaign. The Lancers travel to Ligonier Valley (Ligonier, PA) to play the Rams in a WPIAL 3A 3 challenge on Friday, January 19. The Rams come into the challenge with a record of 2-11. Ligonier Valley lost 76-65 in their recent league challenge against Derry (Derry, PA)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Burrell Bucs (Lower Burrell, PA) in a WPIAL 3A 3 challenge, on Saturday, January 20. Shady Side Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 6-6 season record. The Bucs come into the challenge with a 9-3 record after their 62-36 league win over Apollo Ridge (Spring Church, PA).
