Newton North Tigers (Newtonville, MA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Needham Rockets (Needham, MA), 40-39 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newton North upgrades its record to 5-4 on the campaign. The Tigers host Walpole (Walpole, MA) to play the Timberwolves in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 18. The Timberwolves come into the bout with a record of 3-5. Walpole lost 61-53 in their recent league bout against Needham (Needham, MA)

Next up, the Rockets play the Natick Redhawks (Natick, MA) in a Bay State - Herget bout, on Friday, January 19. Needham will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Redhawks come into the bout with a 6-2 record after their 54-50 non-league win over Brockton (Brockton, MA).
