Texas High School Basketball - Athens holds off Van

In Friday's league contest, the host Athens Hornets basketball team scored a close 56-54 triumph over the Van Vandals.
The Hornets (17-8) will now prepare for their contest against Lindale (Lindale, TX). The Eagles go into the 4A Region II District 15 contest with a 10-15 record. In their last contest, Lindale was tipped by Kemp (Kemp, TX), 69-57, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Vandals confront the Brownsboro Bears (Brownsboro, TX) in a 4A Region II District 15 contest, on Tuesday, January 21. Van will attempt to better on its 18-8 season record. The Bears go into the contest with a 11-13 record after their 57-51 league win over Mabank (Mabank, TX).
