The J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA) basketball edged the host Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA), 49-45 in Friday's league bout.
The Black Raiders now possess a 5-6 record. They play next when they travel to Castlewood for a Cumberland bout on Tuesday, January 21. J.I. Burton will play a Blue Devils team coming off a 62-59 league loss to Rye Cove (Clinchport, VA). The Blue Devils record now stands at 3-7.
With the loss, Eastside falls to 5-6 on the campaign. The Spartans host Honaker (Honaker, VA) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 22. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 0-13. Honaker lost 89-34 in their recent league bout against Patrick Henry (Glade Spring, VA)
