In Friday's league contest, the host Waskom Wildcats basketball team scored a close 57-53 triumph over the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets.
The Wildcats (9-13) will now prepare for their contest against Tenaha (Tenaha, TX). The Tigers go into the 2A Region III District 23 contest with a 21-7 record. In their last contest, Tenaha nipped Joaquin (Joaquin, TX), 91-31, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Yellowjackets confront the Beckville Bearcats (Beckville, TX) in a 2A Region III District 23 contest, on Tuesday, January 21. Elysian Fields will attempt to better on its 12-12 season record. The Bearcats go into the contest with a 13-5 record after their 44-37 league win over Gary (Gary, TX).
