The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Stone Mountain Pirates (Stone Mountain, GA) and the visiting Mt. Zion Bulldogs (Jonesboro, GA), observed Stone Mountain's basketball team edge Mt. Zion by a margin of 56-55.

The Pirates (4-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Stephenson (Stone Mountain, GA). The Jaguars come into the AAA Region 5 challenge with a 4-9 record. In their last challenge, Stephenson was tipped by Luella (Luella, GA), 80-58, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Bulldogs battle the Cedar Grove Saints (Ellenwood, GA) in a AAA Region 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 21. Mt. Zion will attempt to move on its 2-17 season record. The Saints go into the bout with a 16-3 record after their 75-57 league win over North Clayton (College Park, GA).
