Virginia High School Basketball - William Byrd knocks off Staunton River

The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the William Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA) and the visiting Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA), observed William Byrd's basketball team overcome Staunton River by a score of 63-47.
The Terriers (7-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Glenvar (Salem, VA). The Highlanders come into the non-league challenge with a 6-2 record. In their last challenge, Glenvar defeated Floyd County (Floyd, VA), 61-59, in a league challenge.
In their next game, the Golden Eagles battle the Fleming Colonels (Roanoke, VA) in a Blue Ridge challenge, on Tuesday, January 21. Staunton River will attempt to improve on its 6-8 season record. The Colonels come into the challenge with a 9-5 record after their 61-44 league win over Franklin County (Rocky Mount, VA).
