In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Byron Bears basketball team scored a big 73-41 triumph over the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars.
The Bears (15-3) will now prepare for their contest against New Ulm (New Ulm, MN). The Eagles go into the non-league contest with a 10-7 record. In their last contest, New Ulm was trounced by Marshall (Marshall, MN), 80-53, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Cougars confront the Pine Island Panthers (Pine Island, MN) in a AA Section 1 contest, on Tuesday, January 21. Zumbrota-Mazeppa will attempt to better on its 8-11 season record. The Panthers go into the contest with a 5-11 record after their 58-51 league loss to Chatfield (Chatfield, MN).
