North Carolina High School Basketball - East Surry thwarts West Wilkes

The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the East Surry Cardinals (Pilot Mountain, NC) and the host West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), observed East Surry's basketball team knock off West Wilkes by a score of 67-50.

The Cardinals (11-3) will now prepare for their challenge against West Stokes (King, NC). The Wildcats come into the non-league challenge with a 5-8 record. In their last challenge, West Stokes was knocked off by North Forsyth (Winston-Salem, NC), 63-28, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Blackhawks encounter the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 22. West Wilkes will attempt to improve on its 5-10 season record.
