The La Joya Coyotes (La Joya, TX) basketball were winner over the visiting Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears (San Juan, TX), 54-40 in Friday's league bout.

The Coyotes now possess a 13-17 record. They play next when they travel to Weslaco for a 6A Region IV District 31 bout on Monday, January 20. La Joya will play a Panthers team coming off a 60-11 league win over Economedes (Edinburg, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 22-8.

With the loss, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo falls to 10-15 on the campaign. The Bears host Edinburg (Edinburg, TX) to play the Bobcats in a 6A Region IV District 31 bout on Monday, January 20. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 18-12. Edinburg won 56-54 in their recent league bout against Edinburg North (Edinburg, TX)
