Game Summary

Though we began with a strong first quarter, our disorganization and lack of concentration squandered that effort for the rest of the half. We were sure that the refs missed their obvious handball in the box that would have given us a PK attempt, and Aaliyah's free kick, just before the water break, from about 25 yards out was a bit high. They went ahead with 12 minutes left in the half when their rebounded free kick was rocked in from about 20 yards distant. We got even on Aaliyah's PK resulting from another handball call in the 68th minute. We had one more chance with less than a minute remaining when Delaney was fouled just beyond the 18, but Aaliyah's free kick was blocked. We had in 9 shots on goal in 14 attempts to their 9-in-15, and Emma chalked up 8 saves in the tie. We seemed to respond positively to Coach Lance's halftime exhortations, and got close to pulling out the W.
