Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks (Newburgh, NY) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Warwick Wildcats (Warwick, NY), 57-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newburgh Free Academy upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Goldbacks host Middletown (Middletown, NY) to clash with the Middie Bears in a Section 9 Orange County I bout on Saturday, January 21. The Middie Bears go into the bout with a record of 6-7. Middletown lost 57-42 in their recent league bout against Kingston (Kingston, NY)

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the Pine Bush Bushmen (Pine Bush, NY) in a Section 9 Orange County II bout, on Friday, January 20. Warwick will attempt to upgrade on its 11-1 season record. The Bushmen go into the bout with a 0-11 record after their 64-32 non-league loss to Monroe-Woodbury (Central Valley, NY).
