Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) and the host Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA), saw Fort Chiswell's basketball squad hold off Narrows by a tally of 46-40.

With the victory, Fort Chiswell improves its record to 10-6 on the campaign. The Pioneers host Giles (Pearisburg, VA) to play the Spartans in a Mountain Empire challenge on Tuesday, January 24. The Spartans come into the challenge with a record of 0-14. Giles lost 52-49 in their recent league challenge against Grayson County (Independence, VA)

Next up, the Green Waves play the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues (Buena Vista, VA) in a Pioneer challenge, on Friday, January 20. Narrows will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Fighting Blues come into the challenge with a 11-2 record after their 60-29 league win over Craig County (New Castle, VA).
