Holy Names Monarchs (Oakland, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Making Waves Academy Marlins (Richmond, CA), 46-31 in a league bout.

With the victory, Holy Names upgrades its record to 4-6 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to California School for the Deaf (Fremont, CA) to play the Eagles in a Bay Counties - General bout on Thursday, January 19. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 8-7. California School for the Deaf lost 50-26 in their recent league bout against Contra Costa Christian (Walnut Creek, CA)

Next up, the Marlins play the California Crosspoint Rams (Hayward, CA) in a Bay Counties - General bout, on Friday, January 20. Making Waves Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 2-9 season record. The Rams come into the bout with a 4-5 record after their 38-28 league win over Fremont Christian (Fremont, CA).
