Lake Weir Hurricanes (Ocala, FL) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host North Marion Colts (Citra, FL), 58-53 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Lake Weir upgrades its record to 10-5 on the campaign. The Hurricanes travel to The Villages Charter (The Villages, FL) to play the Buffalo in a 4A District 6 bout on Monday, January 23. The Buffalo come into the bout with a record of 11-7.

Next up, the Colts play the Hawthorne Hornets (Hawthorne, FL) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 19. North Marion will attempt to upgrade on its 7-9 season record. The Hornets come into the bout with a 5-4 record after their 55-43 non-league win over Buchholz (Gainesville, FL).
