Piute Thunderbirds (Junction, UT) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Wayne Badgers (Bicknell, UT), 39-34 in a league bout.

With the victory, Piute upgrades its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds host Milford (Milford, UT) to play the Tigers in a 1A Region 20 bout on Thursday, January 19. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 6-7. Milford won 57-22 in their recent league bout against Water Canyon (Hildale, UT)

Next up, the Badgers play the Milford Tigers (Milford, UT) in a 1A Region 20 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Wayne will attempt to upgrade on its 7-4 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 6-8 record after their 46-21 league loss to Piute (Junction, UT).
