The Wheatland Pirates basketball team (Wheatland, CA), was nudged 45-41 in Wednesday's league battle with the visiting Bear River Bruins (Grass Valley, CA)
The Bruins now sport a 1-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Marysville for a battle on Friday, January 20. Bear River will battle a Indians team coming off a 78-26 league win over Lindhurst (Olivehurst, CA). The Indians record now stands at 7-7.
The Pirates (2-10) will now prepare for their battle against Center (Antelope, CA). The Cougars come into the battle with a 7-12 record. In their last battle, Center was nudged by Twelve Bridges (Lincoln, CA), 46-45, in a league battle.
