Mar Vista Mariners (Imperial Beach, CA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Sweetwater Red Devils (National City, CA), 73-62 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mar Vista upgrades its record to 10-7 on the campaign. The Mariners host Victory Christian Academy (Chula Vista, CA) to play the Knights in a South Bay bout on Wednesday, January 24. The Knights come into the bout with a record of 10-8. Victory Christian Academy lost 61-56 in their recent non-league bout against Vista (Vista, CA)

Next up, the Red Devils play the Hilltop Lancers (Chula Vista, CA) in a Freelance bout, on Friday, January 19. Sweetwater will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record. The Lancers come into the bout with a 1-17 record after their 81-32 league loss to Southwest SD (San Diego, CA).
