Rio Grande City Rattlers (Rio Grande City, TX) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Palmview Lobos (La Joya, TX), 48-47 in a league bout.

With the victory, Rio Grande City upgrades its record to 17-11 on the campaign. The Rattlers host Nixon (Laredo, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout on Friday, January 19. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 17-9. Nixon won 59-44 in their recent league bout against Martin (Laredo, TX)

Next up, the Lobos play the Martin Tigers (Laredo, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout, on Friday, January 19. Palmview will attempt to upgrade on its 21-9 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 9-15 record after their 59-44 league loss to Nixon (Laredo, TX).
