In Saturday's league contest, the host Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans basketball team scored a big 70-42 triumph over the Madison East Purgolders.
The Spartans (10-2) will now prepare for their contest against Middleton (Middleton, WI). The Cardinals go into the Big Eight contest with a 7-4 record. In their last contest, Middleton smashed Janesville Parker (Janesville, WI), 73-48, in a league contest.
