Cyprus Pirates (Magna, UT) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Kearns Cougars (Kearns, UT), 52-37 in a league bout.

With the win, Cyprus upgrades its record to 7-5 on the season. The Pirates host Hunter (West Valley City, UT) to clash with the Wolverines in a 6A Region 2 bout on Friday, January 21. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 3-11. Hunter won 43-36 in their recent league bout against West (Salt Lake City, UT)

Next up, the Cougars clash with the Taylorsville Warriors (Taylorsville, UT) in a 6A Region 2 bout, on Friday, January 21. Kearns will attempt to upgrade on its 0-13 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 6-7 record after their 67-32 league win over Granger (West Valley City, UT).
