East Providence Townies (East Providence, RI) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Woonsocket Villa Novans (Woonsocket, RI), 61-44 in a league bout.

With the win, East Providence upgrades its record to 7-4 on the season. The Townies travel to Westerly (Westerly, RI) to clash with the Bulldogs in a State Championship bout on Monday, January 23. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 5-6. Westerly lost 79-44 in their recent league bout against La Salle Academy (Providence, RI)

Next up, the Villa Novans clash with the La Salle Academy Rams (Providence, RI) in a State Championship bout, on Monday, January 23. Woonsocket will attempt to upgrade on its 6-7 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 12-1 record after their 79-44 league win over Westerly (Westerly, RI).
