Alaska High School Basketball - Manokotak can't hold off Newhalen

The Newhalen Malamutes basketball team scored 78 points and held the host Manokotak Lynx to 74 in the Malamutes league triumph on Thursday.

The Malamutes now sport a 8-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to King Cove for a 1A Aleutian Chain contest on Friday, January 20. Newhalen will battle a T-Jacks team coming off a 70-44 league win over Sand Point (Sand Point, AK). The T-Jacks record now stands at 1-1.

The Lynx (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Tanalian (Port Alsworth, AK). The Lynx enter the 1A Aleutian Chain contest with a 3-3 record. In their last contest, Tanalian nudged Chief Ivan Blanka (New Stuyahok, AK), 67-66, in a league contest.
