Okolona Chieftains (Okolona, MS) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Noxubee County Tigers (Macon, MS), 56-54 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Okolona upgrades its record to 9-11 on the campaign. The Chieftains host Calhoun City (Calhoun City, MS) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 21. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 9-5. Calhoun City won 80-62 in their recent league bout against Choctaw County (Ackerman, MS)

Next up, the Tigers play the Amory Panthers (Amory, MS) in a 3A Region 4 bout, on Friday, January 20. Noxubee County will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record.
