Spur Bulldogs (Spur, TX) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Patton Springs Rangers (Afton, TX), 52-49 in a league bout.

With the victory, Spur upgrades its record to 9-8 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Paducah (Paducah, TX) to play the Dragons in a 1A Region I District 5 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Dragons come into the bout with a record of 13-8. Paducah lost 75-23 in their recent league bout against Jayton (Jayton, TX)

Next up, the Rangers play the Guthrie Jaguars (Guthrie, TX) in a 1A Region I District 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Patton Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record. The Jaguars come into the bout with a 1-10 record after their 78-16 league win over Motley County (Matador, TX).
