Ariton Purple Cats (Ariton, AL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Northside Methodist Academy Knights (Dothan, AL), 33-30 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Ariton upgrades its record to 4-5 on the campaign. The Purple Cats host Barbour County (Clayton, AL) to play the Jaguars in a 2A Area 3 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Jaguars come into the bout with a record of 5-8. Barbour County lost 60-53 in their recent league bout against Long (Skipperville, AL)

Next up, the Knights play the Providence Christian Eagles (Dothan, AL) in a 3A Area 3 bout, on Friday, January 20. Northside Methodist Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 8-5 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 6-6 record after their 60-29 league loss to Northside Methodist Academy (Dothan, AL).
