Cartersville Hurricanes (Cartersville, GA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Woodland Wildcats (Cartersville, GA), 54-53 in a league bout.

With the victory, Cartersville upgrades its record to 8-10 on the campaign. The Hurricanes host Hiram (Hiram, GA) to play the Hornets in a AAAAA Region 7 bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Hornets come into the bout with a record of 10-7. Hiram won 71-64 in their recent league bout against Calhoun (Calhoun, GA)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Cass Colonels (White, GA) in a AAAAA Region 7 bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Woodland will attempt to upgrade on its 7-11 season record. The Colonels come into the bout with a 4-10 record after their 51-41 league loss to Dalton (Dalton, GA).
