Cherokee Chiefs (Cherokee, OK) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Medford Cardinals (Medford, OK), 28-20 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Cherokee upgrades its record to 5-11 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Deer Creek-Lamont (Lamont, OK) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 20. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 6-8. Deer Creek-Lamont lost 61-58 in their recent non-league bout against Kremlin-Hillsdale (Kremlin, OK)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Lomega Raiders (Omega, OK) in a Cherokee Strip bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Medford will attempt to upgrade on its 3-10 season record. The Raiders come into the bout with a 14-6 record after their 59-38 non-league win over Timberlake (Helena, OK).
