The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds basketball team scored 79 points and held the host Wabasso Rabbits to 54 in the Thunderbirds non-league triumph on Friday.

The Thunderbirds now sport a 6-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Martin County West for a A Section 2 contest on Saturday, January 20. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will meet a Mavericks team coming off a 88-49 non-league loss to Loyola (Mankato, MN). The Mavericks record now stands at 1-14.

The Rabbits (3-11) will now prepare for their contest against St. Mary's (Sleepy Eye, MN). The Knights enter the A Section 2 contest with a 13-4 record. In their last contest, St. Mary's triumphed over Adrian/Ellsworth (Adrian, MN), 84-55, in a non-league contest.
