Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC), 70-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Shelby upgrades its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Golden Lions host Burns (Lawndale, NC) to play the Bulldogs in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont bout on Friday, January 26. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 7-9.

Next up, the Gryphons play the Highland Tech Rams (Gastonia, NC) in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont bout, on Tuesday, January 23. Thomas Jefferson will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Rams come into the bout with a 5-11 record after their 50-39 league win over Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC).
