The Southland Academy Raiders basketball team (Americus, GA), was nudged 71-68 in Friday's league battle with the host Valwood Valiants (Valdosta, GA)

The Valiants now possess a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Terrell Academy for a GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 battle on Monday, January 22. Valwood will battle a Eagles team coming off a 54-28 league loss to Deerfield-Windsor (Albany, GA). The Eagles record now stands at 7-8.

The Raiders (6-6) will now prepare for their battle against Deerfield-Windsor (Albany, GA). The Knights come into the GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 battle with a 13-6 record. In their last battle, Deerfield-Windsor was nudged by Westfield School (Perry, GA), 38-31, in a non-league battle.
